Firstly with the 'ball mount' I can easily remove the actual tube and store it in my hatch for surf launching, no risk of damaging them or my kayak in the surf. Secondly and most importantly they elevate my 'sticks' to where my reels are out of the water and when considering what my reels cost, the money I spent on the Tube Rod Holders is an investment. Thirdly it's not a big 'story' having to install them, I simply drilled a few holes into my Kayak, attached the 'ball mount' with some stainless steel nut/bolts and that was that... Simple, neat and easy.
As can be expected from RAM products, the highest standards of manufacturing are maintained and these rod holders are no exception...
